Step 1: New Student Enrollment

We are excited that you will be registering at Garfield Elementary for the 2023-24 school year. Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and new student registration will be on-line for the 2023-24 school year. Email your questions to [email protected] or call 619-362-4300. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

At this time, we are only registering students who live within our School boundaries. Please use this website to confirm your school of residence. Students that reside out of district boundaries are not able to be processed by the district office at this time, due to choice application deadline as November 2023. If you are new to SDUSD you may apply for Choice at Choice Application 23-24.

Students are enrolled for grade levels based on date of birth. Students born between September 1 2018 and September 1, 2019, are eligible to enroll for transitional kindergarten. There are no exceptions to these dates for our transitional kindergarten program. Students that turn 5 prior to September 1, 2018 are eligible for Kindergarten.

Proof of Residency

You must also include a copy of one item of the following:

• • recent utility bill

  • rental agreement or rent payment receipts

  • property tax payment receipt

  • mortgage documents

  • military housing orders

• Copy of birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or passport

• Language survey form

• Additional language(If English was NOT the only language listed)

• Garfield Elementary Student information form 

Proof of all required immunizations (required immunizations listed below):

• 4 Polio (3 doses if at least one was given on or after the 4th birthday)

• 5 DTaP (4 doses if at least one was given on or after the 4th birthday)

• 3 Hep B

• 2 MMR (Both doses given on or after 1st birthday. Two doses of mumps, two doses of measles, and 1 dose of rubella vaccines are required if given separately).
